Days 41 & 42 - Vienna, Austria

Monday, June 24, 2013

We got up at 3am to catch a shuttle to Jerusalem for an 8:30 flight to Vienna.  By the time we got to our B&B it was 3pm, it was raining, we were wet, and we decided to buy groceries and take the rest of the day off.

Today was pretty relaxed.  We hoped to see the famous Lipizzaner stallions rehearsing in the Hofburg Palace but they were out touring, so we started with audio-guided walking tours of the center of Vienna and St. Stephen's Cathedral.  Then we wandered the city, catching two organ concerts and an acapella choir (Ebony Chorale) in St. Peter's Church.  St. Stephen's Cathedral is the center of Vienna and boasts two skeletons in glass cases and a Turkish 17th century cannonball stuck in one of it's buttresses.

We ate treats in a fancy coffee shop named Demel.  Jeff had a "Schokobombe" (Chocolate Bomb) and Ruth had an "Annatorte" (rich chocolate cake).
